What PicoSure Pro May Help With
Following assessment, PicoSure Pro may be recommended for:
Pigmentation and sun spots
Melasma
Acne scarring
Fine lines and early textural changes - rejuvenation
Enlarged pores and dull skin tone
Tattoo removal, including multi-coloured tattoos
PicoSure Pro is one part of our laser suite, alongside CO2 resurfacing, LaseMD and DermaV. Your dermatologist will recommend the most clinically appropriate option, or combination, for your presentation.
A Note on Tattoo Removal
PicoSure Pro's picosecond technology is designed to break down a broad range of ink colours, generally requiring fewer sessions than older-generation tattoo removal lasers. The number of sessions needed depends on factors including ink colour, density, depth and your skin, and will be discussed at your consultation.

PicoSure Pro delivers laser energy in picoseconds, trillionths of a second, far faster than traditional lasers. This ultra-short pulse creates a photomechanical effect in the skin rather than a thermal (heat) one, allowing pigment and ink particles to be broken down into smaller fragments with less impact on the surrounding tissue.
Using the Focus Lens Array, PicoSure Pro can also fractionate the laser beam into microscopic treatment zones beneath the skin's surface. This may help stimulate the skin's natural collagen and elastin production, supporting improvements in tone, texture and fine lines, generally with little to no downtime.
-
Consultation first. Every laser treatment at Derm Skin Specialists begins with a clinical assessment to confirm suitability and discuss realistic expectations for your specific concern.
During treatment. A handpiece delivers rapid laser pulses to the treatment area. Sensations are often described as a mild snapping or tingling. Numbing may be offered depending on the area and intensity of treatment.
Downtime. Skin revitalisation treatments with PicoSure Pro's Focus Lens are generally associated with minimal downtime, with some redness that typically settles within a few hours to a day. Tattoo removal and more intensive pigment treatments may involve a longer recovery, including temporary darkening of treated pigment and mild peeling. This will be explained ahead of treatment.
Number of sessions. A course of treatment is often recommended, with the number of sessions depending on the concern being treated. This is discussed and planned at your consultation.
-
PicoSure Pro is generally suitable across a range of skin types, including deeper skin tones. However, suitability depends on your individual skin, medical history and current concerns, which is why every treatment is preceded by a consultation with our dermatology team. This helps ensure PicoSure Pro, or an alternative laser or therapy, is the right fit for you.
