What Causes Lines and Wrinkles?
Lines form as skin loses collagen and elasticity with age. Sun exposure speeds this up and causes much of the visible ageing in Queensland skin, along with smoking, genetics and repeated facial expressions.
Fine lines and crepey texture usually respond to resurfacing and collagen-building treatments. Deeper creases and looser skin often need a combination of approaches.
Daily sun protection makes a real difference. In a Queensland study, adults who used sunscreen every day showed less skin ageing over four and a half years than those who used it occasionally.
Concerns We Assess
Different lines and textures respond to different treatments, so your plan starts with an assessment.
What Happens at Your Consultation
Your consultation on reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles starts with a 30-minute skin assessment with one of our registered nurses. We talk through your concerns, goals and budget, review your skincare and past treatments, and examine your skin.
You leave with a personalised plan, expected timeframes and a clear quote. If any treatment needs a doctor’s assessment, we arrange that first.
Because we are a dermatologist-led clinic, any spot of concern is checked by a doctor before laser or other treatment.
Your Plan May Include
- Laser resurfacing for fine lines and texture
- XERF radiofrequency skin tightening
- Potenza RF microneedling
- Chemical peels and skin needling
- Medical-grade skincare and sun protection
All suitable options are discussed with you at your consultation.

Common Questions
Lines & Wrinkles: Common Questions
Do you treat frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet?
Yes. Book a consultation and a registered nurse will assess your lines and talk you through the options that suit you, with a doctor's assessment where needed. Your plan and cost are confirmed in writing.
Can you help with lost volume?
Yes, for lost volume in areas such as the cheeks, temples and lips, after a full assessment. Pricing is confirmed at your consultation.
What can I do about fine lines and wrinkles?
Daily sun protection and good skincare help prevent them. For existing lines, options include treatment for lost volume, laser resurfacing, skin tightening, RF microneedling and peels, along with options for expression lines discussed at your consultation. We recommend a plan after assessing your skin.
What happens at a consultation about lines and wrinkles?
A 30-minute assessment with a registered nurse covering your concerns, goals, skincare and past treatments, followed by a personalised plan with a clear quote.
Which treatment suits my wrinkles?
It depends on the type of lines, your skin and how much downtime you can have. Fine lines often respond to lighter lasers and peels, while deeper lines and looser skin usually need a combination.
Does laser help wrinkles?
Resurfacing lasers stimulate new collagen and smooth fine lines and texture. Deeper lines need stronger resurfacing, such as CO2 laser with Dr Mitch.
How long do results last?
Collagen-building treatments give gradual results that can last a long time, but skin keeps ageing. Sun protection and maintenance help results last.
Is there downtime?
It varies, from a few hours of redness after lighter treatments to about a week of healing after deeper resurfacing.
Do collagen supplements work?
Daily sunscreen, not smoking and proven skincare make a bigger difference.
Who will I see?
Your assessment is with one of our registered nurses. A doctor is involved when a treatment needs a doctor’s assessment, and Dr Mitch performs CO2 and erbium resurfacing.
Is treatment covered by Medicare?
No. Cosmetic treatments aren’t covered by Medicare, and usually not by private health insurance.
How much does treatment cost?
Costs depend on your plan. You receive a written quote after your assessment, and our fees page lists starting prices.
