Laser Genesis
with Derma V
Laser Genesis is Derma V's signature non-ablative skin revitalisation treatment, delivered using the 1064nm wavelength. Gentle micro-pulses of laser energy heat the upper layers of skin, which may help stimulate collagen production over a course of treatments, supporting improvements in tone, texture, fine lines and mild redness, generally with no downtime.
It's often described as a comfortable, low-commitment treatment, making it a popular option for patients wanting gradual skin revitalisation without a visible recovery period.

Derma V combines two laser wavelengths — 532nm and 1064nm, in a single platform, giving our dermatology team the flexibility to treat a broad range of vascular, pigment and skin revitalisation concerns depending on what your skin needs.
532nm targets superficial vascular and pigmented lesions, such as visible facial veins, redness and sun spots
1064nm works at a deeper level, treating larger or deeper vessels, and, via the Laser Genesis mode, gently heating the upper dermis to stimulate collagen production without damaging the skin's surface
Because Derma V can be tuned to the concern being treated, many patients have more than one "mode" used within a single treatment plan, following assessment.
-
Consultation first. Every laser treatment at Derm Skin Specialists begins with a clinical assessment to confirm suitability and determine which Derma V mode, or combination, best suits your concern.
During treatment. A handpiece is passed over the treatment area to deliver the laser energy. Most patients describe a warm, mild snapping or tingling sensation, generally well tolerated without numbing.
Downtime. Derma V treatments, including Laser Genesis, are generally associated with minimal to no downtime. Some redness may be visible for a short period after treatment, particularly when treating visible veins or more pronounced pigmentation.
Number of sessions. A course of treatment is often recommended for cumulative improvement, particularly for Laser Genesis and general redness, with the exact number depending on your skin and the concern being treated. This will be discussed at your consultation.
-
Derma V is generally suitable across a range of skin types and concerns. However, suitability depends on your individual skin, medical history and current concerns, which is why every treatment is preceded by a consultation with our dermatology team. This helps ensure Derma V, or an alternative laser or therapy, is the right fit for you.

With several laser options available, and every skin different, it's not always obvious which treatment is the right fit. That's exactly what our complimentary nurse-led cosmetic consultation is for.
In this appointment, our experienced nursing team will:
Assess your skin and discuss your concerns
Talk through suitable options, including laser and other dermal therapies
Let you know if a review with one of our dermatologists is recommended
There's no obligation, and it's a helpful first step if you're weighing up Derma V against other options in our laser suite.

-
Most patients describe Derma V as comfortable, with sensations ranging from mild warmth to a light snapping feeling depending on the mode and intensity used. Numbing is generally not required.
-
Laser Genesis isn't a separate device, it's one of the treatment modes delivered using Derma V's 1064nm wavelength, specifically for non-ablative skin revitalisation. Derma V can also be used in other modes to target visible veins and pigmentation, depending on your concern.
-
Derma V is primarily a vascular and revitalisation laser, particularly suited to redness, visible veins and rosacea, alongside general skin revitalisation. PicoSure Pro and Lase MD are better suited to certain types of pigmentation, tattoo removal and textural concerns. Your dermatologist can advise which laser, or combination, suits your presentation.
-
This varies by individual and concern. Laser Genesis and general redness are often treated as a course for cumulative benefit, discussed at your consultation.
-
Most DermaV treatments, including Laser Genesis, involve little to no downtime, though some redness may be visible for a short period after treatment.
-
Laser treatments for cosmetic concerns are generally not covered by Medicare. Where a treatment is being used for a medical indication (such as certain vascular conditions), this will be discussed and clarified at consultation.
