What Does DERM Skin Specialists Treat?
The short answer: skin, hair and nails, for adults and children. We diagnose and treat medical skin conditions, check and remove skin cancers, and offer laser and cosmetic treatment, all in one clinic in Mount Gravatt.
Every service below has its own page explaining what it is, who does it, what it costs and what to expect. A specialist dermatologist leads diagnosis and treatment planning. Dr Jimmy Wang, our cosmetic physician and GP, does cosmetic consultations and skin checks, and our nurses carry out many skin treatments under protocols set with our dermatologists, with laser treatments done by laser-licensed staff.
We see patients from Mount Gravatt and across Brisbane's southside, including Holland Park, Carindale, Mansfield and Sunnybank. No referral is needed to book; a valid GP referral only changes what Medicare pays back on a specialist consultation.

Our Services: Common Questions
Do I need a referral to book?
No. You can book our dermatologists directly, online or by phone. With a valid GP referral, Medicare pays back about $88 on a new specialist consultation; without one, about $21. Fees and Medicare.
Do you treat children?
Yes. Dr Emily Shao sees adults and children, and we treat children's eczema, hair loss and other skin conditions. Meet Dr Emily Shao.
Who does laser treatment: a doctor or a nurse?
It depends on the treatment. Dr Mitch performs all CO2 laser, our dermatologists perform erbium laser, and our laser-licensed nurses do PicoSure Pro, DermaV and LaseMD, and our nursing team also does XERF, RF microneedling and LED. Our Laser Suite.
Can skin cancer surgery be done at your clinic?
Yes. Our dermatologists remove skin cancers under local anaesthetic in our own procedure room, and a biopsy can often be done at your skin check. Skin cancer surgery.
Is cosmetic treatment covered by Medicare?
No. Cosmetic consultations and treatments have no Medicare rebate, and health funds usually don't cover them. See cosmetic prices.
How much does a consultation cost?
Specialist consultations are from $395, a GP skin check is $195, and the nurse skin assessment is a complimentary nurse-led assessment. See fees.
How soon can I be seen?
Most new patients are seen within two weeks, and skin checks are usually available within a week. Call us if a spot is changing fast. Contact us.
