Meet Dr MitchHow Long Results Take
Collagen rebuilds slowly. Improvement continues for 3 to 6 months after each treatment, so photos taken in the first few weeks can understate the final result.
What Affects Your Result
Results vary between people. The main factors are:
- Scar type and depth (see types of acne scars)
- Skin type and how your skin heals
- Whether active acne is controlled
- Sun protection and aftercare
- Following the full treatment plan
How We Track Progress
We take standardised photos in the same lighting at each stage. Scars are hard to judge in a mirror, where lighting changes from day to day, so photos give a fairer comparison. You can see examples in our before and after gallery.
Is Treatment Right for You?
If scars are affecting how you feel day to day, we'll talk this through honestly at your consultation, including whether treatment is likely to meet your expectations. See acne scar treatment.
Common Questions
Acne Scar Treatment Results: Common Questions
Can acne scars be removed completely?
Rarely. Treatment can often make them much less noticeable, but complete removal of deep scars is uncommon.
How many acne scar treatments will I need?
Most people need several procedures over months, often of two or three different types.
When will I see results?
Some change is visible within weeks, but improvement continues for 3 to 6 months after each treatment.
Why do results vary so much?
People have different scar types, skin types and treatments, and results depend on matching the treatment to the scar.
Are results permanent?
Collagen rebuilt by treatment is long-lasting, though skin continues to age. Filler results are temporary.
How will I know if treatment is working?
Standardised photos at each stage show change more reliably than a mirror.
