What RF Microneedling Treats

RF microneedling suits people who want steady improvement with little downtime, or whose skin is at higher risk of dark patches after laser. It is one of the lower-downtime options in our acne scar treatment plans.

Because the energy is delivered below the surface, the outer skin heals quickly. The trade-off is that it usually needs more sessions than ablative laser for a similar change.

  • Shallow rolling and boxcar scars
  • Rough texture and enlarged pores
  • Acne scarring in olive, brown and dark skin

How RF Microneedling Works

We use Potenza RF microneedling, with depth and energy set for your skin.

1

Skin is numbed

A numbing cream is applied for about 45 minutes before treatment.

2

Energy is delivered

Insulated needles enter the skin and release radiofrequency heat at set depths in the dermis.

3

Collagen rebuilds

Over the following months, the heated zones remodel and new collagen gradually smooths texture.

Common Questions

RF Microneedling for Acne Scars: Common Questions

Does RF microneedling hurt?

Numbing cream is used, so most people feel warmth and prickling rather than pain.

How many sessions will I need?

Usually 3 to 4, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, depending on your scars.

Is RF microneedling as effective as CO2 laser?

Not for deep scars. It suits people who want less downtime or have darker skin, and it often needs more sessions.

Is it suitable for darker skin?

Often yes. Because the surface is mostly spared, the risk of dark patches is lower than with ablative laser.

Can it be done with active acne?

Mild acne may be treatable. We assess this case by case and control active acne first where needed.

How much does RF microneedling cost?

It depends on the area and number of sessions. You get a written quote after your consultation.
