Why Do Gold Coast Patients Travel to DERM Skin Specialists?
The short answer: for treatments where it matters who plans and performs them. At DERM Skin Specialists your treatment is planned by a specialist dermatologist, and the lasers and devices that suit different skin problems are in the one clinic, so the plan is built around your skin rather than around a single machine.
That means one assessment can cover tightening, resurfacing, scarring, pigment and redness together, with treatments sequenced so they work with each other and fit around your travel. If a treatment isn't right for your skin, we'll tell you, and suggest what is.
CO2 laser is always performed by Dr Mitch Robinson. Other laser treatments are done by Dr Mitch or our laser-licensed staff, and nurse-led treatments by our Registered Nurses under dermatologist oversight.

Worth the drive

How Far Is Mount Gravatt From the Gold Coast?
About 45 minutes from central Gold Coast via the M1, and less from the northern suburbs such as Hope Island, Sanctuary Cove, Coomera and Helensvale. Travel times vary with traffic; mid-morning and early-afternoon appointments usually miss the worst of it.
We're on Logan Road near the Pacific Motorway, with free onsite parking at the door. See our clinic.

Gold Coast Patients: How Soon Can I See a Dermatologist?
New patients can usually see one of our specialist dermatologists within 2 weeks. That includes medical dermatology: eczema and dermatitis, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, hair and nail problems, and skin checks and skin cancer surgery.
With a GP referral you can claim the Medicare rebate on your consultation.
Can Gold Coast Patients Have a Telehealth First Consultation?
Yes, for many cosmetic and laser concerns. A telehealth first consult lets your dermatologist take your history, look at photos, explain your options and give you a written quote, so your first trip up is for treatment or the hands-on assessment that needs to happen in person.
Some conditions need an in-person examination first, such as a changing spot or deeper scarring. We'll tell you if that's the case.
Gold Coast Patients: Can I Have My Consult and Treatment on the Same Day?
Sometimes. Whether treatment can go ahead on the day depends on your skin, the treatment and whether you've had time to consider it.
For bigger procedures such as CO2 resurfacing, a separate consultation first gives you time to prepare your skin and plan your recovery. Ask when you book and we'll organise your visits around your travel.

How a Gold Coast Visit Usually Works
Your visits are planned around the drive, so you only come up when you need to be here.
Your Gold Coast First Consult
In person in Mount Gravatt, or by telehealth for many cosmetic and laser concerns. You get your options and a written quote, including the total cost of a course.
Your Gold Coast Treatment Day
Treatment in the clinic, sometimes with more than one treatment in a visit when your dermatologist plans that it can safely be done together. You go home with a written aftercare plan.
Gold Coast Follow-Up Reviews
Many reviews can be done by telehealth with photos. Some need an in-person visit, and we'll tell you which.
Planning Your Recovery When You Live on the Gold Coast
About 45 minutes away is close enough for treatment, but worth planning around.
- Follow-up. Many reviews can be done by telehealth with photos, so you only come back in person when it's needed.
- After CO2 or deeper resurfacing. Plan to have someone drive you home, and allow downtime at home before returning to work or the beach. We give you a written aftercare plan.
- Sun. The Gold Coast sun is hard on healing skin. We plan treatment timing and sun protection with you, and some treatments are better timed for the cooler months.
- If something worries you. Call us on 07 3487 1414. We'll tell you whether it needs a visit, and in an emergency call 000.
Gold Coast Patients: What Does It Cost?
- Specialist consultation from $395.
- XERF full face $2,490 per session.
- Other treatments are quoted in writing after your consultation, including the total cost of a course, not just one session.
A referral isn't needed for cosmetic treatments. A GP referral lets you claim the Medicare rebate on medical specialist consultations. See our treatment fees and cosmetic prices pages.
